Studio
Small on purpose, and answering the telephone.
How the studio is arranged
The practice is small by intention. The architect who takes the first call is the architect who draws the section and the architect who walks the site, and that continuity is the product rather than a courtesy. A project that changes hands between a design team and a delivery team loses the reasons behind its decisions at exactly the point those reasons start costing money.
Drawings, not renderings
The studio shows drawings. A rendering invites a client to approve an atmosphere; a drawing invites them to argue with a decision. Plans and sections are drawn to one convention throughout, with a title block, a scale, a north point, dimension strings and levels, so a drawing made in the first month is readable against one made in the ninth.
